Completed 2008

Rocking M Design
101 East Broadway, Suite 612
Missoula, MT 59802

This project is a case study for a marketable, green-built home, elegantly designed and sustainably constructed, with high quality details, materials and finishes. As an infill project, it replaces an underutilized, water intensive lawn in an established neighborhood. The home is Energy Star Certified and features a high-efficiency radiant floor heating/domestic hot water system, and heat recovery ventilation in a structural insulated panel envelope. Many environmentally friendly, recycled, reused and locally available materials were incorporated. This home was featured in HomeWORD’s 2008 Sustainable Homes Tour.

You and your architect:
Getting Started

ask yourself these questions:
  • How will your project be used — do you have specific ideas on how to translate these activities into spaces and square footage?
  • Do you have a site or will this also be a subject of discussion with your architect?
  • Have you decided upon a schedule or budget?
  • What are your overall aesthetic and emotional, as well as practical, aspirations for the project?
